Getting started: a D.El.Ed college

A checklist for a teacher-training college: programmes and batches, admission quotas, theory and internship attendance, and pass rules.

General · Getting started · Last checked 2026-10-19

Choose the D.El.Ed preset. It changes the words to Programme, Batch and Student-teacher, uses annual terms, a default batch size of 50, and switches on the teacher-training features. Follow Getting started: a school for the common steps and add these.

Set up

  1. Institute > Institution profile. Apply the D.El.Ed preset. Features on: Programmes and years, Seats, Quotas, State admission process, Attendance eligibility, Placements and internships, Scholarships, Pass or fail results. Choose the state and board, and switch on features
  2. Quotas. The preset has Government quota and Management quota. Edit the list to match your state.
  3. Institute > State and board. Choose your state. The state pack shows the D.El.Ed admission authority.
  4. Academics. Add the programme (D.El.Ed), its years and the batches.
  5. Seats. Enter sanctioned seats by admission category and quota.

Student-teachers

  1. Students > Admissions. Admit with the state admission details (CAP number, merit rank, round, qualifying exam).
  2. Students > Documents pending. Keep documents complete.

Attendance, internship and results

  1. Attendance rules in the profile: Theory attendance (80 percent) from daily attendance, and School internship (90 percent) from the placements. Check with the council and your state. Both are editable.
  2. Students > Industry training (called Placements and internships here). Record the school internship and school experience programme of each student-teacher.
  3. Exam components are Theory, Practicum and School internship, each with a pass mark. The shipped 40 percent is a placeholder. The council's figures are not verified in SunRuby, so set the real ones in your profile.
  4. Results show pass or fail for each component. Enter exam marks

Money

  1. Fees. Make a structure for each programme year. Fee structures and invoices. Fees > Scholarships holds scholarship applications.
  2. If you run a hostel, see Getting started: a hostel.
