The phone app: install and sign in

The app is for parents, students, teachers and staff. It works on Android phones. An iPhone version is not available yet. You can also use the website in any phone browser.

Install

1. Ask your school or institution office which app to install and where to get it. It is either the SunRuby app, where you see your own institution inside, or an app made for your institution.
2. Open the link or search the store, and press Install.
3. Open the app. The first screen is Sign in.

Sign in

1. Type the phone number or email the school has for you (a 10 digit number or an email). If you are not sure which one the school has, ask the office.
2. Press Send code. A 6 digit code arrives by SMS, or by email if you typed an email.
3. Type the code and press Sign in.
4. If you are a parent of children in more than one class or institution, you see them all after one sign-in. If you hold more than one role (for example parent and staff), use Switch role.

The code does not come

• Wait for the counter, then press Send code again. The wait is set by the server.
• Check the number. Press Use a different number or email to correct it.
• Choose Send the code by email instead if the school has your email.
• Still nothing? A card says No code? and tells you to ask the school office. They can reset your sign-in and send a new code. You do not need to visit. See Reset a parent's sign-in.
• "That code is not right or has expired." Ask for a new one.
• "Too many tries. Please wait N seconds." Wait and try again. After five codes in an hour you must wait.

Language

Choose English, मराठी or हिन्दी on the sign-in screen or later in More > Settings. The app remembers it. A phone set to Hindi opens in Hindi the first time.

Stay signed in

The app keeps you signed in for months. Signing out is under More or Settings. If the office signs you out everywhere (for example after a lost phone), you sign in again with a new code.

Common questions

The app says "No role in the app yet".

Your account has no role the app can open. Ask the office to give you one, or use the website.

The app says a newer version is available.

A banner offers an update. Press Later to keep using it. The app never blocks you.
