Why can't I add a grant, a budget or a donation?

Budgets, grants, donations and the packs for your CA are part of the Advanced finance level. If your plan level is Standard or Basic, the pages show a message such as "Budgets, grants, donations and the CA packs are part of the Advanced level".

What to do

Ask the organisation owner. Only the owner can change the level.
The owner opens Organisation > Legal entities.
Open the legal entity.
Under Finance plan level, choose Advanced.
Press Save.

Then refresh the Books pages. Budgets, Grants, Donations and Donors work.

If the level is already Advanced

Check that the books are switched on. See Switch the books on.
Check that your role has the permission. Adding a grant needs accounting.grant:create, a budget needs accounting.budget:create and a donation needs accounting.donation:create. Ask who manages roles.
Without the trust's donor approval number, donation receipts carry no data for the donor's deduction. Enter it under Organisation > Legal entities.

Common questions

Is the level per institution?

No. The finance level belongs to the legal entity (the trust, society or company), so all its institutions share it.
