The live timetable is a version. You never edit it directly. You make a draft, check it and publish it from a date. Old versions stay for the record and cannot be edited.
See the timetable
Open Academics > Timetable. Choose By class, By teacher, By room or Master. The version in use shows Live now. Use Print for a printable page.
Make a draft
- Edit as a new draft or Change from a date copies the live timetable into a draft.
- Or open Academics > Versions and press Copy as a draft or New empty draft.
- Or generate one. See Generate the timetable.
Edit the draft
- In a free cell press Assign period. Choose subject, teacher and room.
- To move a lesson press Swap and choose the other cell.
- Clear period empties a cell. Lock keeps a cell when you generate again.
- A teacher in two classes in one period is refused with the clash named. You can Save even with the clash. The cell turns red, and Publish is refused until it is fixed.
- The page shows how many periods are scheduled ("N of M") and lists problems in the draft.
Compare
Open Versions, choose Compare with another version. It shows how many cells differ, before and after.
Publish
- On the draft press Publish.
- Choose Starts on (a date today or later) and write a Reason.
- Confirm. Today's timetable does not change before that date. Teachers and parents see a banner about the new version when it is within 14 days.
If your institution asks for approval, the draft waits as "Waiting for approval". Another person presses Approve (or Send back with a reason). You cannot approve your own request. The setting is on Timetable > Settings.
